Studio Ghibli has been working on a new animated film called”
Kokuriko-zaka kara“, and they’ve recently released some details about the project.
According to the December 15th announcement, it will be directed by
Miyazaki Goro – the eldest son of
Miyazaki Hayao - as well as by a director from “
Tales from Earthsea” (released back in July 2006).
“Kokuriko-zaka kara” was originally a serialized manga published through the comic magazine “Nakayoshi” back in 1980; it revolves around the story of a high school girl named ‘Komatsuzaki Umi’, and takes place in Yokohama in 1963.
Singer
Teshima Aoi, who debuted with the theme song “
Teru no Uta” for “Tales from Earthsea”, will provide a theme song for this new animated film as well.
“Kokuriko-zaka kara” is set to be released in summer 2011, and we can’t wait to see what Studio Ghibli has in store!
